Dublin-based hotel company Dalata is planning to open its first property in London under its Maldron brand.
Dalata, which has 50 hotels operating under its Maldron and Clayton Hotels brands in its portfolio, has acquired a new 192-room hotel in London’s Finsbury Park area, close to Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium, in a £44.3 million deal.
The hotel, which will also include a restaurant and bar, is due to open in summer 2023 with Dalata planning to spend £2 million in the run-up to its debut as a Maldron property. The company already has 18 hotels in the UK, including two properties in London under the Clayton Hotels brand.
Dermot Crowley, CEO of Dalata, said: “London is a key strategic growth market for Dalata. We are very excited to be opening our first Maldron hotel in the city in advance of our Maldron in Shoreditch which is currently under construction.
“This acquisition represents an outstanding opportunity to operate a new, sustainably built, hotel in a vibrant and developing area as we continue our ambitious UK expansion plan.”
