ATPI Group has appointed Louisa Toure as the travel management company’s first sustainability officer.
Toure, previously a senior account manager with the TMC, will now lead internal sustainability initiatives and develop ESG strategies that will be implemented across the company’s core operations in 100+ global offices.
She will also be responsible for driving internal education and measuring and communicating the company’s sustainability performance. In addition, Toure will work closely with the TMC’s sustainability division ATPI Halo, which helps clients measure, reduce and offset carbon emissions.
With a career in the travel industry spanning almost two decades, Perth-based Toure joined Australian TMC Griffin Travel in 2014, which was acquired by ATPI later that same year.
While working as a senior account manager at the TMC, she completed a bachelor’s degree in business sustainability and a postgraduate degree in energy and carbon studies.
Commenting on her new role, Toure said: “Navigating sustainability within the travel and events industry is an immense challenge which brings fantastic opportunities. It is a privilege to be tasked with the role of sustainability officer.
“I am looking forward to continuing to work with my colleagues across the globe in an area central to our continued success,” she said.
ATPI was recently awarded a Silver EcoVadis Medal for the second year running, ranking it among the top three per cent of companies rated by sustainability service in the travel agency and tour operator category.
ATPI Group CEO Ian Sinderson added: “Our mission is to integrate sustainability into the very essence of our global operations, ensuring every aspect of the business aligns with the overarching objective of balancing responsibility with profitability.”
